Lemon Chicken

Chinese Lemon Chicken can be easily prepared with common ingredients found in your kitchen.


For the chicken, you will need:
  • 6—8 chicken breasts, (boneless, skinless) cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 4 egg yolks, beaten
  • 2 cups vegetable oil

For the sauce, you will need:
  • 1 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp ground ginger


Sauce Preparation

  1. In medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and cook over medium heat 5 to 6 minutes or until sauce boils.

  2. Keep at low simmer.

Chicken Preparation

  1. Heat vegetable oil in wok or large skillet.

  2. In medium mixing bowl, combine salt, pepper, water, and beaten egg yolks.

  3. Place chicken pieces into bowl, coating pieces with mixture.

  4. Place chicken pieces in vegetable oil, frying 5 to 7 minutes, or until golden.

  5. Remove chicken from oil and drain on paper towel.

  6. Place chicken in serving dish and pour sauce over, tossing gently.

  7. Serve.
