Pai Fan (Boiled Rice)

Pai Fan is a simple and quick recipe that will give you perfect white rice every time! This recipe serves 2.


You will need:
  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • 2 cups water


    Preparation Tip: If you are making a larger amount of rice, always remember to have twice as much liquid as rice. For example, 1 cup rice = 2 cups water, 2 cups rice = 4 cups water, and so on. It is important to remember that rice will increase in volume after cooking. 1 cup will produce 2 cups when fully cooked and so on.


  1. In a medium size saucepan, add rice and water. Heat on high 2 to 3 minutes, bringing rice to boil and creating crater like holes on surface of rice.

  2. Reduce heat to medium. Cover and continue cooking until most of water has been absorbed, approximately 20 minutes.

  3. Do not remove lid. Remove from heat, and let sit covered for 8 to 10 minutes, allowing steam to finish cooking rice.
